Get your free estimateGhost Controls Access Control Installation: The Henderson Owner’s Guide
If you have a Ghost Controls gate opener with a failed access control board, keypad, or receiver, you’re looking at a typical installed price of $285 to $540 in Henderson. We stock Ghost Controls-compatible access control parts on our trucks and can usually complete the swap same-day, with the written price agreed before we open a single panel.
Here’s how most Henderson homeowners discover the problem: the gate works fine with the handheld remote, then one afternoon the keypad goes dead, or a car pulls up to the loop and nothing moves, or the intercom stops triggering the operator. The motor’s fine. The board that tells the motor what to do isn’t. That’s an access control failure, and it’s one of the most common Ghost Controls repairs we do in Henderson.
Key Takeaways:

- Installed access control replacement on Ghost Controls equipment runs $285 to $540 in Henderson, parts and labor included
- The part number matters more than the brand name. Ghost Controls has three distinct access control generations, and they don’t all talk to each other
- Nevada heat is the leading cause of access control board failure in Henderson, especially units installed before 2019 without heat shielding
- Every repair includes a written guarantee good for a full year, and the price is on paper before we start
Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To
Ghost Controls sells swing and slide gate openers under four main lines: the TSS1, TDS2, R Series, and the newer AXDP series. Access control compatibility is not universal across those lines, and that’s the first thing homeowners get wrong when buying parts online.
The older TSS1 and TDS2 units use a 3-pin accessory terminal and 12V signaling. The R Series moved to a 5-pin terminal with a separate accessory power rail. The AXDP line uses Ghost’s proprietary “SecureLink” protocol, which means a generic aftermarket receiver won’t pair with it, no matter what the Amazon listing says. If you have an AXDP opener and your receiver failed, you’re buying a Ghost Controls OEM receiver or swapping the board. There is no reliable third-party option for AXDP access control.
How to identify what you have: open the control box cover and look at the white label on the board. The model prefix is printed there. If the label’s faded from the Henderson sun, look at the terminal block. Three screw terminals is TSS1/TDS2 generation. Five terminals is R Series. If you see a small black module with a blue LED that flashes when you press a remote, that’s an AXDP with SecureLink.
We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Ghost Controls. But we stock parts for their full line, plus LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and DoorKing for good measure.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Access Control Installation Is Failing
- The remote works but the keypad doesn’t. This usually means the keypad circuit on the access control board has failed, not the keypad itself. Replacing the keypad won’t fix it if the board’s receiver channel for wired accessories is dead. We test before we replace anything.
- The gate opens but won’t close on command. In Henderson, this commonly traces back to a loop detector that’s been cooked by summer heat. The detector hard-wires to the access control board, and when it fails, the board thinks a car is still sitting on the loop. Safety feature doing its job, but the part needs to be replaced.
- You hear a click but the motor doesn’t engage. The relay on the access control board fires, but the board isn’t sending enough voltage to the operator. This is intermittent at first, then permanent. We see it most on TSS1 units that are 7-plus years old.
- The intercom rings but you can’t open the gate from inside the house. On Ghost Controls systems, the intercom integrates through a dry-contact terminal on the access control board. A corroded terminal or a failed optocoupler on that channel breaks the connection. Simple fix if caught early.
- Multiple remotes stopped working at once. When one remote dies, it’s the remote. When all three stop on the same afternoon, it’s the receiver module on the board or the antenna wire corroded at the screw terminal. We’ve fixed this in Green Valley Ranch with nothing more than a new ring terminal and some dielectric grease, and we’ve also had to replace full boards in Anthem.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s the honest Henderson pricing picture:
- Access control board replacement (R Series): $320 to $480 installed
- Access control board replacement (TSS1/TDS2): $285 to $390 installed
- AXDP receiver module replacement: $195 to $275 installed
- Loop detector replacement: $210 to $340 installed (includes re-wiring and sensitivity tuning)
- Basic keypad replacement: $140 to $220 installed
The range comes down to which generation you have and whether any terminal blocks or wiring need to be re-done. We quote a written price before any work starts, and that number doesn’t move. Labor is included in every number above, along with removal of the failed part and testing the full cycle, loop, remote, keypad, and safety edge before we leave.
Every repair carries the Garrison Standard guarantee: written, good for a full year. If it fails inside that year, we come back at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
If you want to check the basics before calling, here’s what’s safe: confirm the breaker hasn’t tripped, check that the control box has power at the GFCI outlet, and look for obvious corrosion or a dead battery in the keypad. Those checks take five minutes and cost nothing.
What you should not do is open the access control board and start swapping wires while the system is live. Ghost Controls boards run 12V and 24V circuits, so the shock risk is modest, but a crossed wire on a control board can take out a perfectly good operator motor. We’ve replaced boards in Henderson where a homeowner tried to wire a generic Amazon keypad into a TSS1 and fried both the new keypad and the board. That $40 savings attempt became a $410 repair.
If the remote still opens the gate and only one accessory stopped working, it’s worth having us diagnose it. Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you what it needs, usually those are two different things. Call (775) 307-6571 and we’ll tell you whether it’s a board, a receiver, or a $15 wire terminal. No charge for the diagnosis over the phone.
FAQs
Six to nine years on average. The Henderson heat accelerates capacitor degradation, especially on boards mounted in west-facing control boxes with no shade. Boards installed in insulated boxes or under shade regularly last ten-plus. If yours is past year seven and starting to act up, plan for replacement rather than chasing intermittent faults.
Sometimes. Corroded terminals can be cleaned and re-soldered, and a failed relay can be swapped on some R Series boards. But if the microcontroller has failed or the board shows heat discoloration around the voltage regulator, replacement is the honest fix. We’ll only repair a board if we’re confident it’ll hold up. Call (775) 307-6571 and we’ll tell you which path makes sense.

Most access control replacements on Ghost Controls hardware take 45 to 90 minutes on site. That includes removing the failed part, installing the replacement, re-terminating all accessory wires, and running the gate through full cycle testing on the loop, remotes, keypad, and safety edge. We carry the common boards, receivers, and loop detectors on our trucks, so there’s usually no second trip.
We stock Ghost Controls-compatible access control boards, receiver modules, keypads, and loop detectors for TSS1, TDS2, R Series, and AXDP models on our trucks that serve Henderson. If it’s a less common variant, we can usually have it from our supplier network within one to two business days. Call (775) 307-6571 and give us the model number from inside the control box; we’ll confirm stock before we dispatch.
