Most DoorKing welding and fabrication work in Henderson falls into two buckets: repairing a cracked or bent gate frame, or rebuilding a mounting point that has torn loose from years of wind load and daily cycling. Typical installed prices run $350 to $1,800 depending on whether we’re reinforcing steel on-site or fabricating a replacement component at the bench. We stock common DoorKing frame brackets, hinge plates, and reinforcement stock on the truck, so a same-visit repair is realistic for most slide-gate frame damage. The most common way owners discover this problem is a gate that suddenly drags, binds mid-travel, or makes a popping sound right before it stops closing square against the stop post.

What we see weekly in Henderson: a gate that worked fine for eight or nine years, then the frame fatigues at a weld joint because the original fabrication never accounted for the thermal cycling and wind we get out here. The steel doesn’t fail all at once. It cracks, flexes, and eventually tears. By the time an owner reaches us, the gate is usually dragging concrete or the operator is fighting a frame that’s no longer square.
Which DoorKing Models This Applies To
We fabricate and weld for the full DoorKing lineup we service across Henderson: the 6300 and 6400 slide-gate operators, the 9000 series swing operators, and the 1601 and 1602 barrier gates you see at HOAs and commercial entries. The welding need changes by series. Slide gates running a 6300 or 6400 usually need frame reinforcement or a new rack mount welded to the gate’s leading edge. Swing gates paired with a 9000 operator most often need hinge plate rebuilds or an articulating-arm mount re-welded after the original hardware wallowed out the holes.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that matters: DoorKing’s older 6000-series slide gates were commonly fabricated from lighter-gauge tubing than what’s spec’d today. If your gate dates back more than ten years, the frame may be 14-gauge or thinner. That’s fine for a chain-drive operator, but it was never meant to handle the torque spike from a direct-drive unit. A reinforcement plate welded along the bottom rail is usually the right fix, and it’s less expensive than replacing the whole gate panel. If you have the original install paperwork, check the frame spec. If you don’t, we measure wall thickness on-site before any cutting or welding starts.
On parts, we use OEM DoorKing hardware when it’s load-bearing and spec’d to a particular dimension, like hinge pins, motor mounts, and rack sections. For fabrication work, we use domestically sourced steel matched or uprated from the original gauge. There’s no reason to pay a premium for a DoorKing-branded steel plate that’s just a prepunched flat bar. But we won’t substitute a cheaper aftermarket hinge assembly on a 9000 series operator. That’s a false economy on a part that holds a 400-pound gate panel.
One note of clarity: Carver Gate Repair Henderson is an independent service provider. We work on DoorKing equipment daily, but we’re not affiliated with DoorKing. That means we’re free to tell you when a part is worth the OEM price and when a quality fabricated replacement makes more sense.

Signs Your DoorKing Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate scrapes or drags mid-travel. This is almost always a sagging frame at a failed weld joint, most commonly where the gate’s leading edge meets the bottom rail. The operator keeps pushing, but the frame flexes under load and the gate rides low.
- A visible crack at a corner joint or hinge point. In Henderson’s dry climate, we see paint cracks first, then hairline steel cracks behind them. On powder-coated gates, a cracked coating that keeps spreading is the earliest warning sign.
- The gate pops or creaks when the operator starts a cycle. That’s a weld joint flexing open and snapping back. It’s the sound of metal working against metal at a point that’s supposed to be rigid.
- The gate no longer closes square against the stop post. A bent or fatigued frame loses its original geometry. The operator’s limit switches keep stopping the gate at the same travel distance, but the gate’s physical edge has shifted.
- Hardware wallowing out its mounting holes. If hinge bolts or operator bracket bolts have gone oval, the gate has been moving under load for a long time. Welding a doubler plate and re-drilling is a permanent repair. Repeatedly torquing the bolts tighter only makes the holes worse.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For frame reinforcement and weld repair on a DoorKing slide or swing gate in Henderson, expect the following installed ranges:
- On-site weld repair of a cracked or separated joint: $350 to $650, including surface prep, welding, and repainting the repaired area.
- Frame straightening and reinforcement of a bent or sagging gate: $600 to $1,200 depending on gate length and whether we need to add gussets or a bottom rail doubler.
- Fabrication of a new hinge plate, bracket, or operator mount: $250 to $500 per component, including match-drilling to the existing hardware pattern.
- Full rack-mount replacement on a slide gate: $800 to $1,500 when the existing weld points have torn out and the rack needs sectioning and re-welding.
- Gate frame rebuild or heavy structural repair: $1,200 to $1,800 when the damage extends beyond one joint and the gate has to come down, be straightened on saw horses, and re-hung.
The spread comes down to steel thickness, gate size, and how much access we have. A 12-foot tube gate in a stucco-wall pocket is harder to work on than a 20-foot chain-link slide gate with open access on both sides. Every job gets a written price before any work starts. That price covers labor, material, welding consumables, and repainting of the repaired area. If the repair fails within the guarantee window, we come back at no charge, no argument. That’s the Garrison Standard, and it’s in writing on every job.
DIY or Call Us?
If you have a welder and a solid feel for steel, a cracked corner joint on a lightweight pedestrian gate is a reasonable weekend project. Same logic applies to patching a small tear before it grows into a full separation. What you shouldn’t attempt yourself: re-welding any component on a gate with a live operator attached. A door that weighs several hundred pounds, under tension from an opener, with stored energy in the frame, is not the place to learn what happens when steel binds mid-weld. Gate panels have crushed fingers and broken hands. If the gate is powered, disconnect power and chain it before anything else, and if you’re not completely sure about the structure’s load path, call us at (775) 307-6571. We’ll send a background-checked technician who does this work every week, and the written quote is free.
FAQs
A properly welded and painted joint on a DoorKing gate in Henderson’s climate typically lasts 10 to 15 years, provided the original failure wasn’t caused by an undersized frame still carrying too much load. With no coastal salt and almost no rain, oxidation is the smaller threat. The bigger issue is wind loading and daily cycle count, which is why we reinforce, not just repair, most fatigue-related cracks.
A cracked weld or torn bracket can almost always be repaired by cleaning the joint, grinding out the old weld, and re-welding with added reinforcement. A bent frame section that affects the gate’s travel geometry may be straightenable, but if the steel has work-hardened from repeated flexing, cutting out and replacing that section is the more reliable fix. We’ll tell you which one your gate actually needs before we quote it. Call (775) 307-6571 and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Most single-joint weld repairs are done in two to three hours from the time we arrive, including prep, weld, cooldown, and paint. A frame-straightening or rebuild job that requires removing the gate and working it on the ground usually takes a full day and is scheduled, not same-day. We’ll tell you the timeline when you call and we know what we’re looking at.
We stock common steel plates, hinge stock, gusset material, and DoorKing rack sections on the truck, along with the standard DoorKing hardware for the 6300, 6400, and 9000 series. For unusual dimensions or a gate that needs a custom-fabricated mounting plate, we measure on-site and return with the finished part, usually within a day or two. Call (775) 307-6571 to confirm we have what your gate needs before we dispatch.
