We stock Ghost Controls-compatible keypad and intercom components on our trucks and install them across Henderson, with most keypad swaps running $145 to $260 installed and intercom work typically landing between $180 and $340 depending on wiring condition. Same-day service is available for keypad failures in most of Henderson, including Green Valley, Anthem, and the communities along Horizon Ridge. The usual story we hear: the keypad’s been flaky for weeks, then one morning it stops responding entirely, or the intercom cuts out mid-conversation and now you’re walking to the gate for every visitor.

Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To
Ghost Controls has used two keypad generations. The AXZB is the older push-button model, and the newer AXS1 keypad is the square-faced, backlit version that pairs with the TSS1 and TDS2 series openers. The intercom side is trickier: Ghost Controls doesn’t manufacture a branded intercom, so most Henderson systems we see are either a Ghost keypad paired with a third-party intercom module (Doorking, Aiphone, or generic RF units) or an all-in-one access panel wired into the Ghost control board.
Before you order anything, check two things. First, look at the keypad face: if it’s domed buttons in a rectangular housing, that’s AXZB. If it’s a flat, sealed keypad with a brushed look, that’s AXS1. The AXS1 uses a different mounting bracket than the AXZB, and they do not interchange. Second, find the opener model on the control board under the cover: AXDP, AXS1, or TDS2 all accept the newer keypad. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Ghost Controls, so our job is matching what actually works with your board, not pushing a brand catalog.
One Henderson-specific note: ghost keypads mounted on west-facing gate posts take brutal afternoon heat. The adhesive-backed rubber membrane on the older AXZB separates from the housing after two or three summers here. We see it constantly. It’s repairable with a new face seal on some units, but if the ribbon cable underneath has corroded, replacement is the honest call.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Keypad or Intercom Is Failing
- The keypad beeps but won’t open the gate. The keypad is sending signal, but the code’s been wiped or the board isn’t receiving. This is usually a programming memory fault, not a dead keypad. We re-sync about half of these without replacing anything.
- You have to press buttons twice, or hard, to get a response. The membrane contacts under the keys wear unevenly. On the AXZB, this is progressive and eventually the button stops registering at all.
- The intercom rings, but you can’t hear the visitor. The speaker coil is shot or the microphone line has a break. Exposure to Henderson’s dry heat and dust accelerates speaker degradation, especially on units mounted without a weather hood.
- The visitor hears you, but you can’t hear them. The microphone element failed, which we see often on units installed near the gate track where vibration and dust are constant conditions, not just summer.
- Intermittent operation after rain or high wind. Water intrusion into the housing or a loose terminal connection at the control board. Last week in Anthem we pulled a keypad off a post that had three inches of standing water in the back because the previous installer skipped the drainage notch.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Henderson, a Ghost Controls keypad replacement installed runs $145 to $260. That includes the part, mounting hardware, programming, and a function test at the gate. If you supply your own keypad, we charge $95 to $135 for the install and programming, provided the unit’s compatible.
Intercom repair ranges wider because the failure determines the work. Replacing a speaker element runs $80 to $150. A full intercom module swap with wiring cleanup lands $180 to $340. If the intercom ties into a phone line or a network connection, add $60 to $110 for the termination work and testing.
Every price is written before we touch the job. You approve the number, then we work. That’s the Garrison Standard, and Carver Gate Repair Henderson has operated under it since 2008. The repair carries a written one-year guarantee. If it fails inside that year, the second visit is free.
DIY or Call Us?
A keypad swap on Ghost Controls is low-voltage, so it doesn’t carry the danger of gate springs or operators. You can check basics safely: confirm the keypad lights up, check for cracks in the housing, and verify the wiring run isn’t loose at the control board. But after that, the work is matching the right keypad revision to your board, getting the mounting bracket level on a post that’s often never been level, and programming the code sequence without wiping your existing entry codes. We’ve fixed multiple DIY attempts where the homeowner bought a new AXSB keypad online and it wouldn’t pair because their board needed the older version. Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you what it needs, usually those are two different things. If you’d rather have it done once, call (775) 307-6571.
FAQs
A properly installed Ghost Controls keypad lasts five to seven years in Henderson’s climate, but the west-facing post units often fail at three to four years because of sun and heat exposure on the membrane.
Yes, when the failure is isolated to a torn membrane face or corroded wire terminals. If the circuit board shows corrosion or the keypad’s lost memory repeatedly, replacement is cheaper than repeated service calls. Call (775) 307-6571 and describe the symptom; we’ll tell you which camp you’re in before we show up.
A keypad swap, including programming and testing, takes 45 to 75 minutes on site. An intercom module replacement runs one to two hours depending on the wiring run. All quotes are written before work starts.
We carry both AXZB and AXS1 keypad units on our trucks, along with the common intercom replacement parts for Henderson’s most-installed systems. We also keep parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and DoorKing gate operators, so if the problem turns out to be upstream of your keypad, we can address it the same day. Call us at (775) 307-6571 and we’ll give you a straight answer on availability this week.
