LiftMaster access control installation in Henderson typically costs $850 to $2,400 installed, depending on whether you’re adding a keypad to an existing opener, integrating a telephone entry system, or building out a full access control panel with card readers. We stock LiftMaster-compatible access control components on our trucks and can usually schedule installation within 48 hours of your call. Most Henderson homeowners discover their access control has failed when a keypad stops accepting codes, a card reader stops reading fobs, or the gate ignores a valid entry command entirely.

The frustrating part is that the opener often still runs fine. The motor works. The remote works. But the access control side of the system, the part that decides who gets in and who doesn’t, has gone silent. When that happens, you’re not looking at a full gate motor replacement. You’re looking at a targeted access control repair or part swap, and that’s a different job with a different price tag.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
LiftMaster builds access control components for almost every gate operator they’ve manufactured in the past two decades. The parts we install most often in Henderson include the LiftMaster 811LM keypad, the CAPXL and CAPXM access control panels, and the KPR2000 pedestrian keypads. These work with the LA400, LA412, LA500 series, RSW12, SL3000, and most SwingMaster and SlideDriver models.
The compatibility gotcha most homeowners run into is this: LiftMaster has changed the wire protocols on keypads and control panels over the years. A keypad from 2012 won’t work with all the features of a 2024 control board, even if the mounting bracket looks the same. If you’re replacing a part, check the model number printed on the back of the existing keypad or the corner of the control board before buying anything. We carry both OEM LiftMaster parts and quality aftermarket equivalents. The aftermarket units from brands like North Shore Commercial and GateHouse Supplies typically run 30% to 40% less than OEM and hold up fine in Nevada’s dry climate. But for telephone entry systems and control panels with embedded software, we recommend OEM LiftMaster. The firmware updates and compatibility guarantees are worth the extra money on those pieces.
One thing we see regularly in Henderson: the sun does brutal work on keypad housings. The UV exposure out here, especially in neighborhoods like Green Valley and Anthem where gates sit in direct sun all afternoon, cracks plastic keypad covers and fades the button labels within three to five years. The electronics inside might still work. The housing gives up first.
Carver Gate Repair Henderson is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with LiftMaster or the Chamberlain Group. We stock their parts and we know their systems, but our warranty and our pricing come from us, not from the manufacturer.

Signs Your LiftMaster Access Control Installation Is Failing
- The keypad beeps but the gate doesn’t move. This usually means the keypad is transmitting a code but the control board isn’t accepting it. The problem is almost always a failed control board relay or a wiring connection that’s corroded inside the operator housing. We test the keypad with a multimeter first, because replacing a keypad that wasn’t the problem is a waste of your money.
- Some codes work and some don’t. When one family member’s code opens the gate and another’s doesn’t, the keypad memory has likely lost programming. LiftMaster keypads can hold dozens of codes, but power surges and dead backup batteries can wipe them. The keypad itself often tests fine, but it needs to be reprogrammed or replaced if it won’t hold codes anymore.
- Card readers and fobs stop responding after a storm. Henderson doesn’t get rain often, but when it hits, it hits fast. Water intrusion into the reader housing or the control panel enclosure causes intermittent failures that get worse over time. If your card reader works in the morning and quits by afternoon, moisture inside the housing is the likely culprit.
- The gate opens on its own or stays open after a valid entry. This points to a failing control board relay or a bad loop detector. LiftMaster access control panels use relays that cycle thousands of times over their lifespan. When a relay sticks, the gate behaves erratically. This is a control board issue, not a remote or keypad issue.
- The telephone entry system connects but won’t open the gate. LiftMaster telephone entry units rely on a phone line or cellular connection. If the unit answers but won’t trigger the gate relay, the control board inside the entry system has failed or lost its programming. These units are repairable, but they require a technician who knows the LiftMaster wiring scheme, because the relay wiring isn’t intuitive if you haven’t done it before.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what access control installation costs in Henderson, based on what we install most weeks:
- Keypad replacement (811LM or equivalent): $180 to $350 installed. Includes the keypad, wiring check, programming, and a test of every entry method.
- Card reader system (single reader, fobs, control board): $600 to $1,200 installed. Includes the reader, control board, wiring from the operator, five fobs, and programming.
- Telephone entry system (single tenant, cellular or landline): $850 to $1,800 installed. Includes the unit, mounting, wiring to the operator, programming, and a test call.
- Full access control panel (CAPXL or CAPXM with keypad and card reader): $1,200 to $2,400 installed. Includes the panel, keypad, reader, wiring, programming, and operator integration.
The price range depends on the wire run length, whether existing conduit can be reused, and whether the control board inside the operator needs to be replaced to talk to the new access control equipment. We quote the job in writing before any work starts. The number you approve is the number you pay. Every access control installation we do carries our written 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the installation fails inside a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s in writing, not implied.

Access control installation is low-voltage work, so it doesn’t carry the same shock hazard as wiring a panel or working with high-tension springs. But there are still ways to get hurt and ways to damage your gate operator. The main hazard is working around a moving gate. LiftMaster operators have photo eyes and safety edges, but if you’re wiring a keypad while the gate is still live, you can trigger the operator accidentally. We disconnect the operator before doing any access control work on the control board. If you’re determined to do a keypad swap yourself, shut the breaker off to the gate operator first, and don’t work with the gate in an open position supported only by the operator clutch.
Where DIY goes wrong here is usually programming. LiftMaster keypads and control panels use a sequence of dip switches, learn buttons, and LED flashes that vary by model year. It’s easy to get the wiring right and the programming wrong, then spend a weekend fighting a keypad that won’t accept codes. If you’d rather have it done once and done right, call us at (775) 307-6571. We’ll bring the part, match it to your model, and test every entry method before we leave.
As Lonnie Burke likes to say, “Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you what it needs, usually those are two different things.”
FAQs
In Henderson’s sun and heat, a LiftMaster keypad lasts five to seven years on average. The plastic housing usually fails before the electronics. Gates that face south or west, and gates with no shade structure, lose keypads faster. If your keypad housing is cracked or the buttons are faded, plan on replacement sooner than later, because water intrusion through a cracked housing will eventually kill the circuit board.
Some can. Individual relays on a control board can be replaced by a skilled technician, and keypad buttons can be rebuilt. But if the main processor has failed or the board shows corrosion across multiple traces, replacement is the honest call. We evaluate the board on-site and tell you whether repair makes sense or whether you’re just delaying a replacement. Give us a call at (775) 307-6571 and we’ll take a look.
Most keypad and card reader installations are done in two to three hours. Telephone entry systems and full control panel installations take half a day to a full day, depending on the wiring distance and whether we’re digging new conduit. We give you a specific time window when you book the appointment and we meet it.
Yes. Our trucks carry LiftMaster keypads, card readers, control boards, and wiring connectors. For less common parts, like a specific telephone entry unit or a CAPXL panel, we can usually have it in hand within a day or two. Call (775) 307-6571 and tell us your operator model number. We’ll tell you if we have the part on the truck right now.
